'Today abstraction is no longer that of the map, the douple, the mirror... It is the generation of a real without origin or reality: A hyperreal. The territory no longer precedes the map, nor does it survive it. It is nevertheless the map that precedes the territory - prececssion of simulacra-that engenders the territory'

simultaneous walk OUTSIDE
Continuing the exploration of distortion created on digital devices, I was influenced by the work 9-eyes by Jon Rafman by making a creative response entirely from a digital app. I documented myself and my screen as I sat in my room used Google street view to 'take a walk' down my street. I then physically took this walk with the same set up. I also recorded the walk using Google maps. The work explores concepts of map-territory relations and compares the embodied and disembodied states experienced in digital space and the amalgumation of these spaces through big-data.
